Technician I, Math (Part Time)

Job Summary         

This role is to support the math department office and staff and to assist the Associate Dean of Mathematics with light clerical work. The hours for this position are from 7:30 AM until 1 PM Monday through Friday.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties          

  • To provide phone support for Math Department office staff.
  • Provide typical office support duties, including organizing, filing, document preparation, document distribution, faxing, making copies, handling mail, etc.
  • To support Math Department office staff.
  • Successfully interact with College computer systems to gather data.
  • Assist with keeping a detailed accounting of all department expenses in the context of the departmental budget
  • Assist with cost-effectively ordering appropriate supplies and instructional support materials
  • Track departmental inventory (hardware, software, telephones, printers, etc.)
  • Support department-sponsored student activities

Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued 

  • Effectively communicate department announcements through use of email, signage, computer wallpaper, department website, etc.
  • Make necessary travel arrangements for departmental faculty and chair
  • Validate and process travel paperwork, including grant proposal forms and expense forms
  • Prepare necessary faculty and student evaluation materials
  • Ensure that department faculty are current with required training
  • Prepare and process applicable College forms and paperwork

Preferred Qualifications      

  • 2-year AA or AS in business or related field.
  • Two years of office work experience.
  • Confident in using Word, Excel, Outlook, and other computer programs.

Minimum Qualifications      

  • High school diploma with some college course work.
  • Completed math requirement in college.
  • Willing to learn new skills.

  • Desktop publishing, word processing, presentation, and spreadsheet proficiency
  • Ability to learn new software programs

Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College. Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities and special needs.
