The Justice Division of the Utah Attorney General's Office has an immediate opening for a human trafficking prosecutor in the SECURE Section, located in Murray, Utah. This is a contract position, not a merit position; it is funded by a grant through the Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance. The grant funding is scheduled to expire March 31, 2019. The Office of the Attorney General intends to request renewal of the grant funding but there can be no guarantee that the funding for the position will be renewed beyond March 31, 2019. The position includes benefits through the remaining term of the grant.
The human trafficking prosecutor works with the SECURE strike force to provide support to investigators and to prosecute human trafficking cases throughout the state of Utah. The prosecutor also assists with human trafficking training. Preference will be given to candidates with criminal litigation experience.
The candidate must be a member in good standing with the Utah State Bar upon applications. The successful candidate should be eligible to be cross-designated as a Special Assistant United States Attorney. Background checks are completed as a condition of employment. Travel is required as incumbents will need to represent the State in criminal trials and other legal proceedings throughout the State.
