Nestled in the foothills of the Wasatch Mountains at the mouth of Weber Canyon, South Weber City is a close-knit community of 7,200 residents with a mean income of approximately $85,000. South Weber is seeking a team leader who can assist in sculpting a city experiencing strong growth in residential and commercial development, while maintaining its rich heritage.
Knowledge, Skills and Other Characteristics:
Thorough knowledge of general municipal operations, practices and procedures. Considerable knowledge of municipal organizations and department operations including applicable laws and regulations. Working knowledge of the Uniform Municipal Fiscal Procedures Act; budgeting, accounting and related statistical procedures; various revenue sources available to local governments, including state and federal sources; state laws as they apply to city financial practices; basic personnel management practices and procedures. Considerable skill in resolving disputes and complaints from the public and in economic
development and community planning. Ability to analyze a variety of financial problems and make recommendations; coordinate a variety of financial administrative matters between mayor and department heads; communicate effectively verbally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with the mayor, city council, department heads, employees and the public.
Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in a related field (i.e. Public Administration, Finance, Political Science, Law, or Public Policy) and at least two years’ experience working in state or local government management. Preference is given to those candidates with advanced degrees in afore-mentioned areas or other related fields, city management experience, and to those candidates that have supervisory experience and demonstrated experience in policy implementation. South Weber City offers competitive salaries based on experience. Expected hiring range is $81,000 to $112,000.
